Brush Universal Gray onto a clean, wax free, scuff sanded surface using thin, even coats. Sand lightly with 400 grit sandpaper to smooth out any pigment particles.
For best tannin blocking, allow 24 hours drying time between the first and second coat. After that, allow 2 to 4 hours drying time between each coat and topcoats
Do not use older stearated sandpaper or tack cloths. These contain silicones and can cause adhesion issues.
To spray, it may be necessary to thin Universal Gray with CrystaLac Viscosity Reducer or CrystaLac Retarder – which will thin and also extend the dry time.
Description
Universal Gray is highly pigmented for great coverage using only 1 to 2 coats. It contains stain blockers to stop tannins from bleeding through to the surface. Easy to use and water clean-up. It adheres and bonds to most surfaces providing they are clean and do not have any waxes or polishes on them. Works well as a Primer / undercoat but also contains plenty of resin to protect like a bonding paint. For extra protection, we suggest using your choice of CrystaLac Clear Top Coats. Can easily be tinted with just a dab of latex colorants, Color Boutique Concentrated Pigments or water soluable dyes. Universal White self-levels and won't turn yellow with age.
