Hex threading dies are made from high speed steel (HSS) 6542, which offers excellent hardness, wear resistance, and heat resistance for durability and extended tool life. Precise, clean threads can be produced on a variety of materials including metal, plastic and wood.
The hexagonal thread dies are designed with six flat sides for easy gripping and rotation during use for user convenience and control. No special holders are required, any large enough wrench will do.
Thread dies can process, correct or clean external threads. Suitable for thread processing on stainless steel, aluminum alloy, cast iron, copper, iron, aluminum, plastic, etc. in pipe, plate, machinery maintenance and repair. Used for rethreading existing threads in hard materials like metals and creating new threads in soft materials like plastics.
Hex rethreading die can be used with die stock (also called die handle or die wrench) to achieve efficient and stable threading. It needs to be reversed regularly to facilitate the discharge of chips from the chip removal hole. When tapping, add appropriate lubricating oil to the cutting edge of the die.
Make sure the workpiece is securely clamped or fixed in place to prevent movement during threading. Apply consistent downward pressure as you turn the metric die clockwise to ensure alignment is maintained and to avoid tilting. After tapping is complete, clean the workpiece and remove any metal shavings or debris.
