The mixer bowl covers have 2 pieces, the outer ring to be attached to your mixing bowl when you are actively using your Cuisinart mixer, (1) use when mixing and blending ingredients to prevent splashes and messes and the inner circular-shaped cap (2) use to cover the bowl after mixing is complete, to keep your prepared materials safe before cooking/baking.
When the mixer is working with attachments such as the flat beater, dough hook and wire whisk, you will need to remove the small cover in the middle of the bowl lid, then place the outer ring of the lid over the mixing head and then screw on the mixer attachment to start working.
