Description:
The MAX4080/MAX4081 are two high-side current detection amplifiers with input voltages ranging from 4.5V to 76V ideal for telecommunications, automotive, backboard and other systems that require close monitoring of high-voltage currents. The MAX4080 is only suitable for unidirectional current detection, while the MAX4081 can be used for bidirectional current detection. With the MAX4081's single output pin, the entire process from charge to discharge can be continuously monitored without additional polarity output. The MAX4081 also requires an external reference to set the output level at zero current (VSENSE=0V).The output voltage reflecting the charging current is between VREF and VCC, while the output voltage reflecting the discharge current is between VREF and GND. The input voltage range of the 76V chip is completely independent of the supply voltage (VCC) and common mode input voltage (VRS+), which maximizes its application range. Because the high side current detection does not interfere with the ground wire of the load under test, the MAX4080/MAX4081 is widely used in high voltage systems.
Three different gains (5V/V, 20V/V, 60V/V, the chip screen suffixes are respectively represented by F,T,S) and user-selected external detection resistance combination, it is easy to set the full scale current and output voltage proportional to it.
