THE RETURN OF THE KING Aragorn, Coronated King Elessar Telcontar This coronation coin, or Crown, was minted in Gondor to celebrate the coronation of Aragorn as King Elessar Telcontar. He is shown on the obverse riding a horse and holding a flag with the White Tree of Gondor. Surrounding Aragorn, inscribed in Tengwar: Elessar, Arwen, Gondor. The coin is a celebration of Aragorn's coronation as well as his marriage to the Elf Arwen. On the reverse are brothers Isildur and Anárion holding a shield featuring the White Tree. They stand on Andúril (Flame of the West in Quenya), Aragorn's sword forged from the shards of Narsil. Below it are the Sevens Stones Palantíri and the words, King Star and Year One. Above the brothers are the seven stars of the House of Elendil. This GONDOR Crown from the world of J. R. R. Tolkien is struck from solid nickel silver, measures 3.2 cm in diameter, and weighs about 13.2 grams. Coin artwork by Greg Franck-Weiby.
