On January 14, 2009, in Portland, Oregon, the Postal Service issues a 42-cent, Oregon Statehood commemorative stamp in one design in a pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) pane of 20 stamps (Item 464300). The stamp, designed by Derry Noyes, Washington, DC went on sale nationwide January 14, 2009. With the issuance of this stamp in 2009, the U.S. Postal Service commemorates the sesquicentennial of Oregon's statehood. Oregon was officially welcomed as the 33rd state in the Union on February 14, 1859. Today, Oregon boasts a diverse population, an active and innovative urban scene, and some of the most beautiful and fertile landscapes in the country. Artist Gregory Manchess, a resident of Beaverton, Oregon, was inspired by his own experiences along the Pacific coast to create the painting for the stamp.
