Backpackers, hikers, and campers take note: the legendary Deuce of Spades(TM) backpacker's poop-hole trowel blazes ahead again! Obviously, we think way too much about how to dig poop-holes faster, easier and more efficiently. The latest upgrade is a doozy; we call it the DirtSaw(R). It's a total rethink of how to use a small hand tool to make a hole in the ground. It's shockingly faster and easier to dig a poop-hole in some really tough soils.
You will use this tool upside down, sideways, angled, and right-side up while prying, poking, sawing, rotating, snagging, clipping, slicing and scooping. We don't put bumpers on the handle or make them longer because it would interfere with many of these digging modes. We also flared the handle end so you can use the DirtSaw as a pull-saw or a push-saw.
DirtSaw #2 - .60oz - 6.8"x2.5" - the latest version of our most popular backcountry latrine-hole trowel. It's scoop big enough to moving dirt quickly and its low weight and high toughness is kind of astounding.
DirtSaw #3 - .97oz - 7.7"x2.6" – big and strong, a real beast that excels at prying out rocks and moving a lot of dirt quickly.
All Deuces are made of US high strength 7075-T6 aluminum that meets AMS4045. It's this AMS standard that assures you that these use HIGH STRENGTH aluminum. As a result, Deuces have excellent spring-back when you use them hard. The #1 is noticably flexible and springy; the #2 can be flexed but not much; the #3, being the thickest, is almost rigid.
About our Manufacturing We make these in the US and in Korea through DAC (the premier tent pole maker in the world). They are made in compliance with strict environmental protection laws and the material, workmanship, and lifetime guarantee ($4 replacement postage in US) are exactly the same regardless of where your Deuce is manufactured. We put "madeinUS" as part of the color name to easily identify our US made products.
