The RS232 port provides better isolation between monitoring device and inverter as the inverter micro USB port outputs 5.1V USB power which isn't ideal when it feeds into your monitoring device USB bus.
RS232 is more resilient against electronic signal disturbance (noise) compared to USB. When measuring noise, the Voltronic inverter RS232 port has a lower amount compared to the micro USB port.
