ABOUT ABALONE: As part of the mollusk family, abalone has a thick inner layer of natural nacre (mother of pearl), which in many species is highly colorful and iridescent. This unique iridescence makes abalone an attractive material and has been used for thousands of years in many cultures from all over the world. This particular crushed abalone was harvested from the waters of Mexico and has an even mix of flashy blue, green, and pink iridescence. MATERIAL SIZE: Our medium material is considered to be sand sized (fine sand to very coarse sand), ranging between 0.25 millimeters to 2 millimeters.
