Krill oil is derived from the tiny marine animals that power many of the ocean's biggest creatures, like the humpback whale. The many benefits of the essential fatty acids found in krill oil are well documented, but krill oil also has a unique reddish color that comes from astaxanthin, which is also a powerful antioxidant. Much of the omega-3s in krill oil are in the form of phospholipids, molecules that are more easily absorbed into the bloodstream than some other marine sources.
