Valerian (Valeriana Officinalis) is a perennial herb, reaches a height of 1.5 m. The rhizome is short, thick (up to 4 cm long, up to 3 cm thick), with a loose core, often hollow, with transverse septa. The roots are often separated from the rhizome. The color of the rhizome and roots on the outside is yellowish-brown, at the fracture - from yellowish to brown. Stem is up-straight, furrowed, with branches closer to the inflorescence. Flowers are small, up to 4 mm in diameter, white, pale purple or pinkish, collected in large apical and axillary corymbose or paniculate branched inflorescences. Valerian blooms from the second year of life almost all summer.
