I was a rambunctious white belt when I had my head in between a giant set of tree-trunk like arms for the first time. My pride wouldn't let my mouth scream “tap”, so my ears did the screaming instead. As I pulled my head from my comrade's arms, my ear felt more tender than a heart that just got pulverized by its first heartbreak. I may have felt tough after practice, but my ear had received its first extremely painful and unsightly auricular hematoma duh…duh...duh…cauliflower ear. I couldn't sleep on my right ear that night. After seeing an ear nose and throat doctor the next day, he drained it and recommended compressing it so it wouldn't inflate again. As I began to research cauliflower ear, I found that it occurs when the outer part of the ear is subjected to blunt trauma or repeated friction, causing blood and other fluids to accumulate between the skin and the cartilage. This condition is common in contact sports like Jiu Jitsu, MMA, Wrestling, Boxing, Rugby and Water Polo. Then I thought, what if I use some gentle magnets to prevent any possibility of the fluids accumulating again? This is how Earlox was created. I wanted to heal so I could get back to practice as soon as possible. Grappling sports might have a cruciferous nightmare lurking in the shadows, but your Earlox will eat the cauliflower relentlessly so you can heal quickly and be ready to roll again. Before using Earlox, the affected area must be drained to avoid permanent cartilage damage. This is usually done by a medical professional. The magnets and the ear must be thoroughly cleaned with alcohol prior to application to prevent infection. Place the magnet set that fits best for 48-72 hours, or until fully healed. Remove if causing pain and consult with a doctor before use. The kit includes 2 sets of large magnets (front and back magnets), 2 sets of small magnets, and a compact & well designed zip case. The large magnets are 7/8” in diameter and the small magnets are 1/2”.
