Pipsissewa (Chimaphila umbellata) is a perennial winter-green plant. The leaves are evergreen, leathery, thick, dark green and shiny above, lighter below; Flowers are drooping, on long pedicels, collected at the ends of the shoots in an umbrella-shaped brush. Corolla is pink, wide open. Pipsissewa blooms in June and July. The fruit is a flattened-spherical capsule, 3-5 mm long, 5-6.5 mm wide.
